Green Infrastructure - The Future of Stormwater  Presented by Dr. William Hunt, III, PE, WNR-Distinguished University Professor & Extension Specialist, BAE-NCSU

In response to massive fish kills in the 1990's and other on-going water quality concerns, North Carolina has focused on innovative stormwater management for two decades.  Many treatment techniques have been utilized in the state, many of which are based upon research conducted at NC State University.  The presentation will discuss evolution practices used across North Carolina and the various concerns raised by the design community (i.e. maintenance, reliable tools, and needed metrics).  Practices to be highlighted include bioretention, permeable pavement, constructed wetlands, and wet pond retrofits.
