NCWRA Luncheon, Forum and Webinar -  North Carolina Floodplain Mapping Program 2D Dam Inundation Studies and FIMAN (Flood Inundation Mapping Alert Network)

Presented by: Gary W. Thompson, PLS; Interim Risk Management Chief/Chief NC Geodetic Survey

Tom Langan, PE; Engineering Supervisor North Carolina Floodplain Mapping Program (NCFMP)

This presentation will highlight and discuss future plans and enhancements to the North Carolina Emergency Management (NCEM) Flood Inundation Mapping and Alert Network (FIMAN) and the North Carolina Floodplain Mapping Program (NCFMP). It will also provide an overview of the integration of dam hazard information into State Emergency Response Application (SERA) that is used by local first responders when responding to natural and man-made events. It will finally focus on dam inundation analyses and risk assessments being performed as part of the State of North Carolina Disaster Recovery Act of 2018 for approximately 750 high and intermediate hazard dams across the state to provide greater visibility of areas at-risk during a dam breach.
