Board of Directors - Position Descriptions

All officers and members-at-large serve as voting members of the Board of Directors, attend board meetings, committee meetings, and other meetings as warranted, and participate in quarterly forums, committees, and other events and roles as warranted. Terms are based on a calendar year.

President Elect  1 position (3 year term total as President Elect, President, and Past-President)

The President Elect shall perform the duties of the President in the temporary absence or disability of the President, and serve as the President’s principal assistant in conducting the business of the Section. The President-Elect’s role is to assist the President in overseeing all the activities of the Association, and to become familiar with the responsibilities of the presidency. At the end of a one-year term as President-Elect, he/she automatically becomes President of the Association.  After a year of presidency, he/she serves an additional year on the board as Past President.

The President-Elect shall have the following responsibilities.

  1. Serves as a voting member of the Board of Directors.

  2. Informs members and others about the Association's bylaws, procedures, and strategic plan.

  3. Attends committee and other meetings as warranted to become familiar with Society matters in preparation for the presidency.

  4. Establishes and maintains a close working relationship with the WRRI representative for continuity of goals, objectives, and purposes of the Association.

  5. Works closely with the president and WRRI representative on existing and future projects to ensure a smooth transition from one year to the next.

  6. Assists the president in promoting the objectives of the Association.

  7. Attends the Annual Meeting, Business Meeting, and all Board of Directors meetings, and other meetings/functions deemed necessary or appropriate.

  8. Assists the Treasurer in the preparation of an annual budget for the association.

Secretary – 1 position (2-year term)

The Secretary shall keep the minutes of the Section meetings and provide meeting summaries after each meeting, shall issue notices of meetings, in conjunction with the WRRI, and shall assist the Board in all the activities of the Association and perform all other duties incident to the office, including participating on Board committees and contributing to the dissemination of new science, membership recruitment, and program development. 

Treasurer - 1 position (2-year term)

The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds of the Section.  The Treasurer’s accounts shall be audited at the close of each year as directed by the President.  The Treasurer shall prepare an annual report and financial statement which will be posted on the Section’s web page. The Treasurer shall maintain financial records within a financial software such as Quickbooks, perform a monthly reconciliation of financial status, coordinate with WRRI to post record of deposits and expenses into financial software, reimburse WRRI for Forum expenses, manage Paypal deposits and checking accounts, write checks per Board approvals, and prepare financial summaries for the NCWRA Board.

Members-At-Large - 6 positions (2-year term)

The Members-At-Large shall have general responsibilities including serve on and chair committees, participate in quarterly forums and board meetings, assist in guiding the development and growth of NCWRA, and fill other roles as needed.
